Wildlife Pond Maintenance - Lowestoft, Suffolk, NR33

We were contacted and asked if we could make some repairs to the edge of this pond as it had bowed inwards and was close to collapsing. The customer also wanted to change the ponds function and add some fish so we set about making this happen.

To repair the edging we needed to drain the pond and whilst it was empty we removed as much waste from the bottom as possible. Because there isn't a liner and theres no solid bottom things will never be perfect but we did the best job possible by manually dredging it out. Once we'd completed this and made the repairs to the edge we were asked to install a filtration system. We opted for a Oase Screenmatic for ease of maintenance. The water clarity likely won't clear up until the ponds bottom has some time to settle but in the meantime it will keep the pond circulating and give it much needed oxygen which is vital for the fish.

We finished by staining up all the ponds woodwork in P2 superseal  which does a great job at protecting the wood but is also one of the only fish safe stains available. After talking to the customer we know the fish have been added and appear to be enjoying their new home. The water is slowly beginning to clear as things settle and the plants are all looking good.
