Pond Rejuvenation - Bungay, Suffolk, NR34

This pond had seen better days and needed an overhaul to bring it back to it's former glory. The lining was leaking and the filtration system hadn't been looked at in a good few years. The balance had been lost and algae had taken over.

Initially we thought we may be able to repair the pond liner if we could find the damage. Although fairly old the pond lining was butyl but unfortunately the damage was too significant to patch up. We also discovered there was another pond liner underneath which isn't uncommon. We once found a pond with 5 liners!

After taking up both linings up we installed a fleece underlay and then re-lined with a 0.75mm EPDM rubber pond liner. This is an ideal liner for this size pond and has a good amount of flexibly in order to achieve a neat installation. Because it's a rubber liner it can be repaired in the future if theres any accidental damage.

We cemented all the edging stones back down and added a few plants to re-establish things. The pond looked so much bigger! The small pressure filter was given a new lease of life with some new foams and UV bulb and we needed to replace the pump which had burnt out from being blocked. Now the pond is looking great again and the filtration is working as it should.
