Waste/ duckweed removal - Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR30

The duckweed in this pond had started to grow too rapidly to maintain. The best way to combat this is to remove the excess nutrient levels in the pond which is creating the ideal conditions for the duck weed to grow.

As this pond hadn't been cleaned for a number of years we drained the water down to access the waste at the bottom. We removed an awful lot of waste which had accumulated over the years. There was a total of 4 large buckets full of waste which took up nearly half the pond meaning the pump was constantly struggling and running slow.
Now the pump's running as it should and things are looking much clearer.

Time will tell how things go as there's still duck weed stuck in the roots of the plants and without removing all these it's inevitably going to return, but what we've done should inhibit its growth.
